IRA QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION (QCD)
As of November 16, 2023, the Internal Revenue Service website (irs.gov) says that individual retirement arrangement (IRA) owners age 70½ or over can transfer up to $100,000 to charity tax-free each year. These transfers, known as qualified charitable distributions or QCDs, offer eligible older Americans a great way to easily give to charity before the end of the year.
And, for those who are at least 73 years old, QCDs count toward the IRA owner’s required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year. IRS rules change on a regular basis. So, be sure to consult with a financial professional and the custodian of your IRA to ensure that a QCD makes sense in your situation.
Checks should be made payable to Love Schools, Inc. and mailed to P.O. Box 462 Maize, KS 67101. Please attach a note and indicate that the gift is a QCD and the purpose of the gift.
NON-CASH DONATION
For stock and mutual fund donations, shares are transferred by your broker into Love Schools’ account. The shares are then sold, the proceeds are electronically sent to Love Schools, and the gift is designated as you choose. An in-kind letter will be sent to you detailing your donation for tax purposes.
